Took the opportunity to visit the two bunkers that Festung Guernsey have restored at Strongpoint Rotenstein on the headland at Fort Hommet. They really have done a fabulous job of restoring the two bunkers. They are only open to the public a few times a year. Follow their Facebook page for announcements. They also post regular updates on their work.
The Festung Guernsey volunteers were on hand to explain the history of the bunkers.
The map below shows the site and it is worth a walk around even if the bunkers aren’t open. Fantastic views over Vazon, Albecq, Cobo and to Grandes Rocques.
There is also another bunker that has been restored which is open more frequently. You can find details of this here.
Type U/WaKoFest personnel bunker
Type 633 bunker for 5cm automatic fortress mortar
